Finding North by Carmen Jenner Release Blitz Review

Title: Finding North
Author: Carmen Jenner
Genre: Erotic Romance M/M
Release Date: February 25, 2016

Blurb

Red Maine’s blue-collared bad boy, North Underwood, has a dirty little secret—Will Tanner.

Friends since kindergarten, North had been the one to jump first, and his fall into Will’s bed ten years ago had been no exception. Will and North had been inseparable, but things change, people grow apart, and even a blazing flame can dwindle to a dying ember over time.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

After a run in with a bottle of Bundy rum, Will and North find themselves in a compromising and all too familiar position.

Blurred lines, bad decisions, and one wrong foot after another lead these two down a spiral of sarcasm, secrets, and sex, but when North’s hetero status is called into question he can’t figure up from down. And despite Will telling himself he wouldn’t fall again, he’s head over heels and wandering without a compass.

Love is love.

Love is truth.

Love … shouldn’t be this damn hard to figure out.

Trailer

Excerpt

I push my glass towards him for another refill, downing the shot of liquid courage. “You ever think about what might have been?”

Will scoffs and sets his glass down. “You’re seriously asking me this?”

“What?” I say, getting pissy now, because he acts as though he’s the only one who lost something. “I can’t ask a question?”

He takes another sip, avoiding my gaze. The humour has left his face; his mouth forms a tight line as he stares down into his drink. “You can’t ask that question.”

“Okay then,” I say, agitated that he’s calling the shots. I ask a question I’ve been wanting the answer to for a very long time. “Why didn’t you leave?”

“Jesus, not you too.” Will shakes his head. “You sound like Josh.”

“Who the hell is Josh?”

He slams back the rest of his drink and beats his fist against his chest. “Fuck buddy.”

“You have a fuck buddy?” I clench my jaw. I’m starting to see why Bundy has a bad name. Right now, I’d like to find Josh and beat his fucking head in.

Will laughs. “Look at you getting all jealous.”

Is he fucking kidding me?

“How long?” I say through my teeth.

“How long have I been fucking him? Or how long is his cock? It’s about five for both.”

“Five what?” I snap. “Days? Weeks?”

“Months.” He rests his elbow on the bar, dangling his glass from his long fingers. “And inches.”

“You been fucking this Josh for five months, and you didn’t think to mention it?”

“I’ve fucked a lot of men in the last twelve years, North. Why would I mention any of them to you?”

“I kissed you.”

“Yeah, and I didn’t ask for it,” he says, swirling the liquor in his glass. “How many women have you slept with in the past twelve years?”
I don’t have an answer for him. I don’t even remember half of their names, only that I was fumbling around in a drunken stupor, trying to grab onto just a little bit of happiness. On the outside I have all my shit together, but inwardly I’m hollow. I’m the worthless piece of shit my father always told me I was, and I’d bury my dick in anyone in an attempt to find something that made me feel even half of what Will had that summer.

Finding North

Will and North were inseparable growing up. They live in a small community made up of fishermen and steel mill workers. All citizens have lived in Red Maine their entire lives and know everything about each other. People don't even lock their doors! And homosexuality is not accepted at all.

At 18, a rift separated Will and North. Twelve years have passed. Will is now known as the only gay man in town. He has taken over management of the only bar in town from his ailing father. North is just another blue collar worker who comes in to get drunk. It's a pretty sad set up.

The storyline switches from both men's POV. It also goes between past and present. In the beginning, the reader doesn't know what they went through at 18. When all the blanks are filled in, some scenes give the heart and feelings a good working-over.

The sex is super hot and delicious. Just a warning, there is a teeny bit of M/F. North tries to go the 100% hetero route, but his actions and thoughts seem to be somewhere between bi and GFY. If you're in the mood for two tough-as-nails, manual labor, alphas, you need to check this out. Finding North is full of whiskey, brawling, weed and love that conquers all.

SPECIMEN by Shay Savage Blog Tour Review

SPECIMEN BOOK TOUR.jpg

SPECIMEN IT'S LIVE.jpg
A soldier, a doctor, and a stark white laboratory full of lies.
Specimen by Shay Savage is NOW LIVE on AMAZON!

Blurb
I awaken in a laboratory.
I don’t know who I am.
I’m inexplicably drawn to the doctor who cares for me.  She tells me I’ve been altered, that I’m stronger and faster, that I’ll be a key component in a war between corporations.  She says I volunteered for this.  She says I volunteered to be transformed, but I have no way of knowing if what she says is true.
Something isn’t right.  My memories have been taken, wiped clean, but dreams begin to slip into my conscious mind.  I can’t let anyone know when that happens, or they’ll remove my memories again.  Somewhere inside of me, I know I need to remember something important.
I’m fighting a war I don’t understand, and the one woman I rely on can’t be trusted.

Excerpt
“That’s why I can’t stop thinking about fucking you.”
Her eyes widen, and she quickly looks away from me.  She stands and starts to pull her hand away, but I push myself off the bed and grasp her arm before she can go anywhere.  Our bodies touch, and I reach one arm around her back and pull her tightly against me.
I cup her face with my hand and run my thumb across her lips.  Her scent is all over me now, and I want to experience her with my tongue.  Would her taste resemble her scent or complement it?  I have to know.
Pulling her closer, I press my open mouth to hers.  Her body stills, and she grips my shoulder with one hand as the other presses against my chest.  Her mouth is warm.  I can feel her breath as my tongue slides inside.  Her taste is indefinable, smooth like sweet liquor I can’t recall ever tasting.
There is a shift inside of her.  It can’t be seen or heard, but I can smell it and taste it.  The smell of her skin becomes darker, thicker.  I feel her flex her fingers on my shoulder as she tilts her head to allow me to deepen the kiss.
How would her scent change if I were inside of her?  What sounds would she make when she comes?  Would she muffle her cries or be loud enough for all those watching us to hear?  How would it feel to come inside of her?  What sounds would I make?
I don’t even know if I’m a virgin.
Reaching behind her, I shove whatever is on the side table to the floor, lift Riley up, and set her down on the edge.  I grip her hips and pull her against my stomach.  The table is too high.  I can’t fuck her from this angle.  I break the kiss, lift her effortlessly, turn, and drop her ass to the edge of the bed.
“Sten, stop!”
I freeze my actions.  My entire body tightens, and my dick throbs in my shorts.
It’s too much.  I need this.  I need her.
I don’t move.
“You have to let go of me.”
I squeeze my eyes shut and withdraw my hands only enough to release her.  I keep them close enough to still feel the heat from her body and detect the shift of air when she moves.  She uses her hands to push herself backward on the bed, away from me.
The muscles in my legs shake.  I’m so wound up, and I can’t let it go.  The tension becomes painful and the need for release so prevalent, I can no longer think.  I grip the edge of the bed until my knuckles turn white.  As soon as she pulls her legs back and pushes herself off the edge of the bed, on the side opposite me, I grab the bed and throw it, smashing it into the mirror.
I glare at my reflection, and the strange dark eyes glare back at me.  The unfamiliar lips are curled up in a snarl, and the unkempt beard creates a frightening image.  Everything about the man looking back at me is alien.
Didn’t I just shave last night?

REVIEW

Specimen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At some point in the future, a comet passed by Earth too closely, which devastated the ecosystem. Crops failed. Water became scarce. Companies fought for control. Two sides emerged as leaders. Now there is a war between them for ultimate control. Specimen is about a super soldier, designed by one of the sides, and his handler.

The reader is constantly questioning. What is the truth? Who's good or bad? Is this part real? Everything is told from his POV. His memory has been swiped. He's a science experiment undergoing treatments and simulations. He's on testosterone and drug overload with side effects of fight or fuck always trying to break through. His doctor is his trainer and lover. His whole world revolves around her, which makes everything a complicated struggle between brain, heart, hormone and environment.

This story was an adrenaline ride. I haven't come down yet. If you have been waiting for something different, this is for you. It feels a bit post-apocalyptic and dystopian but it's mostly sci-fi and erotic romance. You'll just have to read it and decide for yourself. ;) I found this pic and consider it a perfect message from the author.

TARGET ON OUR BACKS by J.M. Darhower Review

Target on Our Backs
(Monster in His Eyes #3)
USA Today Bestselling Author
J.M. Darhower
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: February 23, 2016

The best way to keep your word is never to give it.

I've got so much blood on my hands they'll never be clean, and somebody out there seems to want me to pay for it. Happily Ever After always comes at a cost, one any real man would be willing to pay. But that doesn't mean I'm just going to roll over and accept these consequences.

Because when it comes to the woman I love? The life I've fought for?

Nobody is safe.

REVIEW

Target on Our Backs (Monster in His Eyes, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We all know the type of man Ignazio is. He knows. Karissa knows. Everyone knows. He makes no apologies for his past, but he is trying to lead a different life now for Karissa's sake. The problem is that the other players don't want to let him go.

Target on Our Backs isn't full of unexpected or shocking moments, but so much is life-changing or life-threatening. Naz and Karissa know how serious everything is, but the vibe surrounding them is subdued. They're so strong and practical, the perfect matches for each other.

This author is a master at delivering a powerful, stoic male lead. The fearlessness isn't bravado. He knows he isn't invincible. He has nothing to prove. He isn't afraid to die even. The only thing that concerns him is the woman he loves.

I enjoyed seeing a different side of Naz, the subtle exchanges that mean so much between him and Karissa. Getting to know Giuseppe a little more is a special treat. Some new characters from Naz's past also pop up.

I was not expecting a third book. I thought the story was over. I didn't think I wanted more, but I was wrong. I needed this book. It gave me that consumed feeling that I haven't had in awhile. Even days later it's still heavy on my mind. I loved it, and the ending is perfect.

The Revenger by Debra Anastasia Blog Tour Review

Summary

The real hero of this story is dead. You should have met him. He was a beautiful man. The love of my life. I didn’t deserve him.

Now what’s left are the jagged edges of the person I am without him, and what I have to do to get by. This isn’t even a story about love. Not really. It’s a twisted tale of revenge and hate—a happily never after.

The only man in my life now is the one I have to kill.
I’m Savvy Raine.
I used to be a wife.
I used to be a mother.
Now I am the Revenger.

Excerpt

There was very little chatter after the alarming phone call. Savvy looked at the clock. It was only five, but the extra help Tallow had enlisted acted like she was about to disintegrate. When they were finally done, they hung Savvy’s costume from a door, fully expecting her to drop trou in front of all the strangers.
She looked at the silver outfit meant to demean her and classify her as his, just like all his other favorites.
“Yeah, I’m not actually going to be wearing that.” She looked from one shocked person to the other.
Tallow recovered first. “But this is what he told you to wear!”
Savvy laughed hollowly. “Yeah, he can suck his own d*ck for all I care.”
The atmosphere changed. The others now realized Savvy didn’t think it was a huge honor to be a f*ckhole.
“That’s not acceptable. I’ll put you in it myself if I have to, but you’re leaving here in that outfit.” Tallow bravely gathered up the skirt and came into Savvy’s personal space. He obviously thought she was just a regular girl.
In an instant she’d lifted Tallow into the air by his neck. “I’m not wearing it.” She stared him down until he began to turn blue. Then she set him back on his feet.
Tallow was a quick learner and smoothed his fancy shirt. “Okay then, let me see what else we have.”

The Revenger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Savvy was an average wife and mother until an accident changed her completely. The reader witnesses the aftermath and evolution from Savvy to The Revenger. I really got into it. I felt the pain and excitement. The author did an excellent job of making me empathize with everyone. Lines between good and bad become blurred. The plot is full of action, sweetness and sadness. There's never a dull moment.

I love that this author is able to change up and write different genres. Some label The Revenger as dark paranormal. I personally would not label this as dark. To me it seems like an old school superhero story, the kind where a hero is born from great suffering. If you like Marvel, DC and such, you should definitely check it out. If you're looking for something different, this is it.
